Talented young horses displayed their class in a pair of 2-year-old New York-bred stakes on Saturday at Finger Lakes Gaming & Racetrack. The $116,775 Lady Finger Stakes and the $117,263 Aspirant Stakes were the co-features of the eight race card.
Twisted Tom was a one-half length winner of the 45th running of the $160,150 New York Derby at Finger Lakes Gaming & Racetrack (FLGR) on Saturday. He covered the one mile and one-sixteenth route for New York-bred 3-year-olds in a final time of 1:44.52.
Trainer Bruce D. Anderson notched his 1000th career win at Finger Lakes Gaming and Racetrack on Monday, June 12. He reached the milestone when Sisters for Ever scored a narrow victory in the sixth race under jockey Joshua Navarro.
The 2017 live thoroughbred racing season at Finger Lakes Gaming & Racetrack is set to get underway on Saturday, April 22. The historic Western New York track’s 145-day meet will begin with the 8-race Opening Day card.
