Winter room rates packaged with sweet treats and snow activities offer visitors to Sequoia National Park a winter wonderland of memories
SEQUOIA NATIONAL PARK, Calif., Nov. 28, 2012—Celebrate winter and the holiday season the way nature intended. From play-and-stay packages and snow chain concierge services, to Christmas with Old St. Nick and a “Trek to the Tree,” Wuksachi Lodge’s winter offerings let guests take advantage of one of the most wonderful times of year in Sequoia National Park.

On Dec. 9, head from Wuksachi Lodge in Sequoia to a unique holiday ceremony in the neighboring Kings Canyon National Park. The annual “Trek to the Tree” program begins in Grant Grove at 2:30 p.m. at the stately General Grant Tree. The giant sequoia was proclaimed the Nation’s Christmas Tree by President Calvin Coolidge and serves as a living memorial to fallen soldiers. Because travel between the parks may be impacted by winter weather, it is advised that travelers check current road conditions by calling the National Park Service hotline at 559-565-3341.

Christmas Eve, bring the kids to the Wuksachi Lodge lobby to meet Santa and decorate holiday cookies. Then snuggle up around the fire with a cup of hot cocoa for Christmas storytelling including a reading of “T'was the Night Before Christmas.” On Christmas Day, enjoy a delectable feast at The Peaks. Along with its seasonal menu, the lodge’s signature restaurant will feature specials created with holiday flavors in mind. Advance reservations are strongly recommended.
